The Hulk Becomes a Snail

Berlin is a live wire:
clubbers go hard at Berghain,
drug addicts drift along Frankfurter Allee,
mad zombies in Neukölln

At summer solstice,
music emanates from every nook and cranny

I was drawn here like a moth to the flame,
to the Dionysian underworld

I was the underground man,
utilising jouissance,
compelled by the possibility of destruction

But speed kills
and I began to recognise limits

The teacher of chill shows me a different way

Broccoli Soup at her flat on Worther Strasse:
we eat it together, looking out the window,
zoning out,
stress and worries
dissipating like vapour in a calm breeze

Tension eases in the shoulders,
breathing slows down,
the 10,000 things rise and fall

Wholesome habits pump the breaks
to regain control of the wheel

Circadian rhythms,
flowing conversation,
domestic Zen,
a home in the sprawl

We meet the musician Seth Faergolzia,
who is playful, handmade, unpretentious,
close to ordinary life

His cockatiel whistling is hilarious and joyful

I’m transitioning from hulk to snail
from jouissance to nature
from cat to dog

Peace is possible
